Veterans in Franchising: A Case Study at CruiseOne/Dream Vacations

Many franchise brands believe strongly in recruiting military veterans into their systems. These veterans often possess a determined and disciplined work ethic and a dedication to following a system. Veterans have been a recruitment focus at CruiseOne/Dream Vacations and that's why the brand has built and relied upon its Veterans Program to help recruit them.

Cory Jennings is a U.S. Navy veteran now living in Midland, Texas. Following his years in the service, he says, he and his wife wanted to own their own business. They did some research, liked what they saw in franchising, and finally chose CruiseOne/Dream Vacations because the industry combines their love of travel and the ability to create their own path.

Franchising is built around a model not so different than how the military operates. It provides franchisees with a proven system to succeed, and gives them the tools and support necessary to grow the business. Veterans like Jennings rely on their work ethic to do the rest.

Jennings says, “Military veterans have a work ethic second to none and franchising provides them with an opportunity to benefit from their hard work. Franchising offers veterans a streamlined path to succeed once they have left the military.”

“There are so many parallels between the military and franchising that recruiting and supporting military veterans has become a cornerstone of who we are and what we do; it is shaping the future of our organization,” says Tim Courtney, vice president of franchise development and ambassador of veteran affairs for CruiseOne/Dream Vacations. “We recognize that military veterans are driven by the core values and disciplines they learned in the military and it these values and disciplines that drive them to succeed.”
